Campaign Automation - Determining Next Steps Based on CRM Value?

I've done a little digging, and read through several posts about the Campaign Automation functionality, but it doesn't seem like there is anyway to change the course of a series based on a CRM value.

For example, I have a marketing list that people are added to when X occurs. After that, I'd like to check a field on the contact entity called "Persona," and use a different email template based on the value. We would also like to change the course based on the "Score" - and this is a CD field. 

Currently I am having to call CRM Workflows to handle all of this logic, but it is pretty basic marketing automation functionality. Is this available somewhere, and I am just missing it? Or is this somewhere on your development roadmap?
