"getting this error: HTML Template does not contain Unsubscribe link." in ClickDimensions Help - comment added by Eryka Adams

Hi All,

I would just like to try to clarify this topic for future readers. In order to be in compliance with US anti spam laws we require all emails sent to 500 recipients or more to include some type of unsubscribe link before they can be sent out.  As a result, if you are testing the email to less than 500 you will not receive the error until you go to send to your marketing list larger the 500 recipients. If you would like to avoid encountering this error all together, as a best practice, we suggest always including an unsubscribe link.

Here is our help article about the Unsubscribes and the CAN-SPAM Act.

Hi Brandon,

In the past other ClickDimensions users have found that the easiest way to do this is to get the customers email and fill out the subscription page for the customer.  I hope this helps.

How do I copy and paste from Microsoft Word to an Email send

Is there a way to copy and paste from a Microsoft Word doc to an Email Send?  Every time I try this I lose all the formatting from word.  This is a constant need as many of the people submitting material for email sends are not using CRM or ClickDimensions and those requests are funneled through a few admins.  The word docs have no fancy fonts or colors just the basic ones that are supported by the email editor, however, I lose sizing, bold and italicized words, spacing, and alignment when copying and pasting from word.

How to add variable data (not in CRM) in e-mail (e.g. custom coupon code)

Is it possible to include a personal code (which is not in the CRM) into an e-mail sent with ClickDimensions? For instance. I want to send an email to several clients with a personal/unique coupon code. These codes are in an external file (they are not related to e-mailadresses or any other field). It will work as long as each recipient receives a unique code from that list. Anyone?

Thanks.

Rob

Locking Tags in Freestyle Editor

Hi

Was asked yesterday whether it is possible to 'lock' areas of a template using the Freestyle Editor (tags?) as per the Drag & Drop Editor?

Thanks in advance

Shaun

Hi Shaun,

At this time there is no locking feature in the freestyle editor as there is in the drag and drop editor. However, you could submit a feature request to our developers here: http://support.clickdimensions.com/forums/356780-Feature-Requests

Thanks,

Hi Ben,

We do not recommend copying and pasting email content from Word because sometimes there can be hidden formatting code that can not be seen, which can cause problems with rendering . It is best practice to format your email in the Clickdimensions Editor to avoid any potential issues.

Security being bypassed during the transmission of eblasts

A few days ago I had a user of my system send an Email Send (eblast) with a dynamic marketing list which had the criteria of nothing (blank). Based on her security, she could access about 198 contacts, however because the send goes thru the ClickDimensions service account, it literally saw over 50,000 contacts. So instead of sending 198 emails we had 50,000 go out.  Not to mention they were to contacts in other states unrelated to the user. This is a large security flaw as the built in CRM security is being completely bypassed. How do we limit what the service user can do to prevent this in the future. While yes the user did make a mistake, I believe the application should not be allowed to overlook security so blatantly.  Additionally it should not be expected that users would not forget to define the marketing list as it is a very easy thing to forget, especially for those less tech savvy.

Thanks

Tracking Emails Sent from Outlook

Hello,

A client found the following blog article that describes how to track a "one off email" sent from Outlook using Clickdimensions. This assumes the user simply wants to track if a recipient clicks on a link in the email (ex. website URL in the sender's signature).

Do these emails, that are being sent and tracked from Outlook (not through CRM) count against the customer's yearly email allowance or not?

Dear all,

Any news on this issue? I tried to update to the latest ClickDimensions version (7.0.4) and got the same error message as before. Isn't this something that ClickDimensions dev team can circumvent?

If not, should we still ask for a manually modified solution from ClickDimensions support?

Thanks

Joris

Hello Rosmari

Unfortunately, the image you included did not post; would you mind either  sharing the image again or specifying in which email editor you are not seeing the document manager and where in the editor you are looking?

Hello Rob

Unfortunately, it is not possible to dynamically populate data into a ClickDimensions email if the data is not stored within CRM.

Hi Joris,

There are a variety of different scenarios that might require that we provide a manually modified solution, depending on which version of CRM and Update Rollup you had installed when ClickDimensions was first installed, which Update Rollups were applied to CRM prior to upgrading CRM, etc. So it really depends on the exact history of your CRM as to whether it is something we can circumvent in our general release, or if it requires a manual modification.

Hello Mark

Since the email you are referencing is not being sent out through ClickDimensions, it would not count against your annual email allowance.

Thank you Matthew,

Since we are getting the error, I suppose we should ask for a manually modified solution for our specific environment.
I'll get in touch with Support.

Still, it would be good if you could follow this up with Microsoft and your dev team to see if a solution is possible. Otherwise  we'll have to ask Support for solution files every time there is a new release.

Best
Joris
