"On list type form fields, does the list item value have to match the lead and contact picklist?" in ClickDimensions Help - comment added by Courtney Smith

Hi Christine,

The values should be the same; you'll need to fill out the Contact Picklist Value and Lead Picklist Value to tell the system what to set the custom field to for each option selected. Here's an example of that: http://help.clickdimensions.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/12/Check-box.jpg

Thanks for using the forum and just let us know if you have any questions!

"New import tool - adding existing contacts to marketing lists" in ClickDimensions Help - comment added by Courtney Smith

Hi Nick,

That's right; you'll need to choose one of the mapping options for action to be taken on new and existing leads and contacts. We're looking into this, but as of this post, please select "overwrite all" or "only fill in blank". For what you want to do, I'd select "only fill in blank". It won't write over any existing data in the system.

Thanks for using the forum and please let us know if you have any questions!

We seem to be experiencing this issue as well, except in Dynamics 2013.

We have attempted to upgrade version 6.4.0 to version 6.6 and had our update fail on the "Text Message" entity.

Thanks Courtney! My concern was that the blank fields might overwrite existing data, however I've tested with "fill in blanks" and nothing was overwritten and the contacts were added to the relevant marketing list.

It's nice to have a tool like this! Our old CRM had a similar facility and it really should be something that MS Dynamics has out-of-the-box.

Hi Nick,

Great, I'm glad that helped! Thanks for letting us know how you made out. Just to clarify, "only fill in blank" should not overwrite any content at all; it will just input data in blank spaces if they exist.

Thank you! Hopefully this tool makes the process much easier for you.

Thanks for using the forum and just let us know if you have any other questions on anything!

Hi Justin,

Please open a support ticket if you have not already done so and provide our support team with the solution zip file and the import error log. They can modify the solution file for you to work around this issue.

Blank Email Template for Quick Send - Text Only Version Needed?

$

This is my proposed solution for one-off emails that are standardized with greeting and signature codes. We created a template and made it available as a quick send template. The user starts the quick send, picks my Blank Email template, opens the editor, types in a message, clicks send.

In this scenario, I don't see a place to update the plain text version of email send. Will the text version of the Email Send only include a blank template? Would the mismatch throw up red flags on spam filters?

In that case, would it be better to not have a text version?

Best practices for handling file uploads

Wondering if anyone has a process or a best practice for managing file uploads.  Ideally, we'd like to attach or make a connection from the file upload to a custom entity.  This would simplify management of the internal processes my client needs to follow.

I don't see a true form field for the file upload, but I do see a posted field labeled with my form label that references the file uploaded.  Has anyone been able to successfully re-link or connect to a specific uploaded file?

Thanks!

Rick

Data associated to deleted leads still shown

Hello,

I was wondering what happens (or what is supposed to happen) to ClickDimensions data related to leads / contacts that have been deleted from the system.

I had noticed earlier that my deleted test leads were still shown in the "ongoing nurture" view from the nurture programs, and now I see as well that all email events (delivers, failures, opens, clicks etc) associated with deleted leads also still show (see screenshot).
I've done quite a lot of tests where I deleted the leads, thinking that this would "clean" the system, but it seems like the information stays on in the ClickDimensions part of the CRM.

Is this supposed to be or just not working correctly at our place? Is the only way to go about to delete those manually with an advanced search?

Thanks in advance and best regards,
Léopoldine Brand

Hi Missy,

ClickDimensions isn't aware of an issue like this at this time, but we'd be happy to investigate with you more deeply via a support ticket at http://support.clickdimensions.com

Please let us know if you have any questions.

Hi Léopoldine,

You are correct; this is the current behavior of our system. We will not automatically delete records that are associated with Leads or Contacts that are removed from the system. For right now, you'd need to manually delete those out. You could potentially go through and do an Advanced Find for any Email Events without a Lead or a Contact associated and delete those, repeating for different record types.

Sorry for the trouble! Please let us know if you have any questions.

Is there a prerequisite, checklist or best practice doc when upgrading crm 2011 to 2015 on-premise?

I searched the forums, but didn't see documents that matched what I'm looking for. I don't want to miss anything important that might cause an issue going from CRM 2011 to 2015 with ClickDimensions.

Thanks.

Hello Louis-Alain

You are correct; there is no built in functionality at present that limits the number of emails a recipient can be sent in a given time period. You could look into your plug-in idea to handle this, or you could set up a workflow that could temporarily unsubscribe a recipient for a given length of time after they have received a certain number of emails which you could track with a custom counter field that you add to the lead/contact record (although this option would not be very flexible).

Allison, is there any type of document that outlines best practices or prerequisites when upgrading from 2011 to 2015 on-prem?

Thanks for the response! Since my initial question, I have discussed my question with Jesse and she has in turn submitted a suggested product enhancement item to the product management team ;-)

"How do I create a recurring email?" in ClickDimensions Help - comment added by Rhys Saraceni

Hello Ben

You could accomplish this by setting up an on demand workflow based on leads or contacts (whichever you are working within in your marketing list) in which you initially run it on your marketing list members on the first of the month, then you would have a wait step for 1 month, a step to send your email, then a run child workflow step in which you call the same workflow to loop it back to the beginning.

Please note that this will send the email individually to each marketing list member; it will not send to the list as a whole. You will need to set up scheduled Email Sends to do that.
