Hi All,
My organisation signed up to trail CD for few months so that end users test it's functionality and we can ensure that it fits our requirements but also to help us define the requirements as we are trying to move multiple parts of the organisation with very different areas of "business" to a single CRM system and discontinue using of multiple separate email marketing applications and centralise everything in CRM.
So whilst I was setting CD up, I have ran into the following scenario, let's look at a Contact:
As it is a shared Accounts & Contacts data system - every department/business area will have their own version of the Contact form capturing different information and subscription options (updated via a workflow based on the subscription preferences submission). Often 2 or 3 of the departments / business areas will have to deal with the same 1 Contact. Email Sends are managed separately by the marketing professionals within the different business areas.
So 1 Business area will send out an email to a Contact with their own subscription pref page where the option for global Opt-Out will be available, although once selected this will set the global option for contact - Bulk Email - "Do Not Allow" and stop other business areas to send out emails to this individual even if it may be actually subscribed to receive comms from them.
It is not appropriate to display all the subscription lists for all business areas on CRM as they are intended to be around 6 areas with very different activities and 1 contact may be relevant to 2 or 3 of them but not to all of the 6 ones so that recipients won't even understand what some of the options are and that'd give an opportunity to unsubscribe from something they have not even received...
Any thoughts around how to manage the above would be greatly appreciated! :-)
Thanks in advance and best wishes,
Adriana
